On International Women’s Day (Wednesday 8 March) I will be giving a talk and signing copies of Style Forever at the lovely Gudrun Sjoden store in Covent Garden. Over her 40 years in the industry, Gudrun has remained committed to environmental projects and human rights and has supported female garment workers around the globe. I admire Gudrun’s stance and her support for womankind. And I am delighted to be doing something on International Women’s Day. Here’s a quick preview of my edit of the spring/summer 2017 collection:

I’ve had a bit of a (whisper it) Malware problem over the last few days. Very frustrating but thankfully all sorted now. Apologies if you have clicked on That’s Not My Age and experienced strange pop-ups or a shouty American man telling you to call Apple. That’s Not My Doing.

The event starts at 6pm and as well as my book-signing there will be refreshments, discount on the evening and a Gudrun Goodie Bag. The butik’s address is HERE. Hope you can make it.

  1. Thanks Alyson for letting us know about software glitch. I was worried about messages to reconfigure my operating system which I ignored. Like the black and white matelot striped dress and top against the greenery of 2017 background. An interesting way to blend monochrome with this year’s fresh foliage colour. One I could emulate in my own wardrobe.
Presumably the book signing is for your original book and not volume two. Would like to have attended but it is unlikely.

    1. It is the first book, Mrs Tonia. New book is out in November and there will be more events and a launch party around publication. Hope you can come to something later this year.

  2. Loose, colourful elegant clothes that suit EVERY woman- what’s NOT to love..? Good luck on the 8th- I know it’s going to be great!

  3. Shortly after I bought that first book (and recommend it for anyone reading who does not already have it!), and discovered your blog , you ran a feature on Village England bags…….and I’ve been coveting them since then. Having finally bought one I wanted to say ‘thank you’ – fabulous bag and amazing customer service. Doubt I will make the book signing on that date – but may now have to make my way to Gudrun’s shop on another trip into town.

  4. I’d love to attend your signing, but I live in a different country and won’t be in yours on that date.

I adore your blog, its topics, and your views. Thank you.

  5. Alyson I love your classic cool outfit in the photo above.
You look polished yet relaxed and modern!
I much prefer solids to prints, especially as I age.
It reminds us all to avoid overthinking what to wear and to just keep it simple.
    Thank you for sharing.

  6. I live out in the sticks, 20 miles from the nearest supermarket, so won’t make your ‘do’ except in spirit! It’s sure to go well.

Love your outfit in the pic, Alyson! It oozes simplicity and quality – perfect!

  7. I love your blog Alyson and I’ve been tempted in the past to post about Gudrun Sjoden. I’m a huge Gudrun fan so I hope I can get there and not only meet you bu have a look at the new collection! Gudrun’s clothes are not cheap but you get what you pay for and the quality is excellent, lasts for years, and you can get some good bargains in the sales, as well as discounts through “Gudrun’s Club”. She does a lot of work to support women textile workers, her models are all ages, shapes and ethnic backgrounds, and her catalagues are works of art. She really is a shining light and deserves wider recognition so I’m glad you’re giving her some publicity.

  8. Dear Jane, Maudie, Julie – it’s not a bookable event so please come along! It will be lovely to meet you all. Apologies for not replying sooner, I’m still experiencing tech issues with TNMA, hopefully this will be resolved today and sincere apologies if anyone is experiencing random pop-ups. Best, Alyson
