I’m going easy on the Christmas gifts this year. But one thing on my list for a flower-loving friend (who hopefully won’t see this post) and my mum (who definitely won’t see this post) is the new book Gathered by stylist and art director Mary Norden and photographer Polly Wreford. The pair worked together commercially for many years, before joining forces to set up Us Publishing and release their first book, Gathered (available HERE). I’ve been a fan of Norden’s work since her days as Interiors Director at Red magazine (she’s also worked for the Sunday Times and Homes & Gardens, as well as for numerous brands). Having studied textile design, the art director describes herself as ‘Mad about flowers, a textile collector, passionate about colour and pattern, inspired by imagery that tells a story – I live by the rule that the best is yet to come.’ The beautiful, painterly photographs of flowers grown in Norden’s London garden are also available to buy as individual prints.

And, if the best is yet to come, I’m looking forward to volume two.

Gathered not just Kate Winslet’s luvvie mantra…

  1. This definitely is my age, the photographs are beautiful and remind me of some of Tessa Traeger’s photographs for Vogue in the seventies and eighties, along with Arabella Boxer’s food writing, both of which I loved.

  2. How beautiful those shots are, Alyson. But, you know, don’t be tooo sure your mum won’t see this post. My mum learned how to use a computer at 84. And now at 89 she reads my blog every day. I can’t get away with anything:)

  3. Gorgeous photography! I would like a gallery wall of these beautiful images. Thank you for all the great ideas for our fellow gardening friends/family.
