Jeez, it’s hot. Steamy, sweltering, stinking hot, and I’m feeling slouchy. And a bit sweaty. Must find my Nan Fan. Over the last couple of days the women I’ve spotted in London looking chic in the heat are those loosening up and staying super natural. Wide leg linen trousers and a silk shell top, jersey harem pants with an oversized cotton shirt, a faded linen tunic over faded black cotton trousers. These are easy, everyday essentials, as opposed to holiday clothes. And here are some more…

Attempting to stay cool in 30-degree heat, I’ve pulled out my Winser London silk v-neck top, (there’s a short interview with me on the Winser website HERE) and a jersey maxi skirt I bought at J.Crew about five years ago. Boden has something similar HERE (also available in plain navy & black).

If you prefer patterned to plain, Jaeger’s silk tile patterned shirt, is under half price in the sale. Or go a little bit slouchy, a little bit stripy with a lovely Hobbs linen tunic. For slinky silk trousers, Jigsaw’s drawstring style are neat but not too neat, teamed with the square cut silk shirt (see below), available HERE. Not forgetting the perennially chic oversized mannish shirt:

And then relax in an off-duty, light, loose and airy t-shirt.
