Beauty at any age: Vivienne Westwood
This fantastic image of Vivienne Westwood is by the photographer Andy Gotts. Famous for shooting naturalistic portraits of Hollywood stars and other famous people, I saw his ‘Behind the Mask’ exhibition for BAFTA. In an interview with Notes on the Road, Gotts describes how he works:
‘I am a ‘one man band.’ I have no assistants at each shoot, and no PR
people around. A shoot where there are literally two people in the room
provides a more relaxed element. I also do not retouch my shots – they
are “warts ‘n’ all,” and are a true depiction of the talent, and not a
glossy ideal of how they look.’
That’s what we like. Oh and how fabulous is Dame Viv’s grey crop? The 73-year-old designer and campaigner has a memoir out in October – should be a fascinating read.

Love her and her clothes, but I thought she had cut out the colour to show her natural grey rather than go blonde

I adore this photo of Vivienne Westwood. Seventy-three looks amazing and inspiring, with beauty an spell-binding character.
What a great site. I am male and have always admired more mature people. This I guess is because of my grandmother Suzanna Fournier, who epitomised style all of her life. One day she would wear an egg shell Chanel, the next a Miyake ensemble. She had long white hair, always worn in a bun. My biggest inspiration.
Keep up the great work. Also glad to see these pages don't have people with plastic surgery. Madonna always complains about ageism, but does nothing about getting older as she is still trying to look 25, unfortunately the surgery she had had lately makes her look older than her age. Someone should remind her that even Joan Rivers has smooth wrinkle free skin. 🙂I do believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What does it really means to us? It only explains that true beauty is not in our physical aspects but in our inner aspects. In short, attitude or character because what you have shown is what people think of you. I love her look so much. She can really rock that haircut. She looks so confident . I am 66 years young and have a pixie haircut. I am trying to get brave enough to go as short as Viv. Now that I have retired from my career as a critical care nurse, I am wearing more fun clothing. I love the boho chic look. It’s fun to get out there and be who you want to be with confidence. I believe my next step will be the Viv haircut! I love to see men and women having fun with their wardrobe, especially as they get older. I never intend to have an “old lady” look. That’s no fun right?
