About

It’s not about age, it’s about style. And this is for every woman who refuses to be invisible. Alyson Walsh.

I’m a freelance journalist, former magazine fashion editor and author. That’s Not My Age began in 2008, when I noticed a space online to celebrate women of all ages.

That’s Not My Age was winner of the Best Women’s Fashion Blog 2019 at Vuelio’s Online Influence Awards.

Not-So-Basic Basics

Confidence comes from finding clothes and accessories that work hard, and work in real life. Not just on catwalks, in glossy magazines or ‘Today I’m Wearing’ Instagram posts.

These reliable, wardrobe essentials are what I like to call  Not-So-Basic-Basics. If our younger years are all about experimenting and identity-finding (throwing everything on and hoping for the best), midlife-and-beyond is all about streamlining and refining. Cutting the crap.

Know Your Style – Latest Book

KNOW YOUR STYLE: Mix it, Match it, Love it is a beautifully illustrated handbook offering expert style advice and interviews with some of the world’s most inspirational women, including Lucinda Chambers, Caroline Issa, Linda Rodin and Lyn Slater.

With over 30 years of experience in the fashion industry, including 10 years as fashion editor for a leading lifestyle magazine, Alyson Walsh has the answer to any fashion dilemma.
