Helen Mirren: the new face of L’Oréal
— by Alyson Walsh
In a genius move, French cosmetics giant L’Oréal has signed up Helen Mirren. How fabulous is that?! I’ve written a feature for the Guardian; read all about it HERE.
What do you think – has the beauty industry finally wised up?

Very shrewd move and watch everybody else fall in. Lots of great beautys 50+ with lots of money to spend. Only surprise is it took this long.
- Chic atanyage says:
Fantastic she is definitely one of my role models.

Absolutely wised up! She is stunning and would catch my attention in an ad. It is very inspiring to me and I would guess to many others…hopefully we will see more.

Love Helen Mirren in general, it is so refreshing to see a woman who actually looks her age and is beautiful! I just wish they hadn't put such a pale pink lip on her, I find that aging.
- Marguerite says:
She has beautiful gray hair, but it's been made blonde in this photo! I guess having gray hair would be too much oldness. Pity. Get real L'Oreal!
- Lilac In May says:
Savvy move by L'Oreal, HM (Helen Mirren or Her Majesty!) looks great.
- vivienz says:
Without a doubt Helen Mirren looks fantastic, but there has certainly been a little help along the way to maintain such a firm jawline, neck and décolleté when your approaching 70, be it airbrushing or surgical. Mind you, when the results are that good, I'd certainly consider it.
- Paula Jensen says:
Yes she's not your typical older woman. However a great marketing ploy as we hope to look that good after purchasing their products. What one really needs is her plastic surgeon!
- Mary Hartman says:
It's great! Women want to believe a product works, but companies make it hard when they show photos of young women. Helen looks fabulous.
- Mumbai says:
She looks great but does anybody really believe this picture is not
retouched? - Val S says:
That's fantastic! As a baby boomer, I'm not ready to give up the clout of my demographic! And she looks so cool with paler lips and darker eyes. This is a good look for her.

Genius & inspired ……perhaps a wee touch of Photoshop but not enough to cause any foot stamping!, well maybe a little!
- janavi says:
Love her and it is a great choice but then why photoshop her to death.I Think she looks better in real life.
- That's Not My Age says:
vivien & Paula – yep, she has had help but I still think that this is inspiring.

Great news and inspiring piece for the Guardian!
- Elizabeth Tierney says:
I love Helen Mirren, but I am also remembering the way L'Oreal Photoshopped Diane Keaton to the point where she looked about 17. Which is to say, I'm skeptical.
- Kat Ballentine says:
Helen admits to plastic surgery and there is obvious photo enhancement. I don't care. She is a phenomenal talent and I want her to keep working.
- Sarosh Ahmad says:

I'm aware of all that Sarosh but was commissioned to write a piece on the L'Oreal advert.
