Iman celebrates turning 60 with Vanity Fair cover

— by Alyson Walsh

Iman was the first black model to become the face of Revlon in 1979, and now owns her own multimillion dollar beauty brand. The Somali-born supermodel is 60 next month and to celebrate she’s on the cover of Italian Vanity Fair. I prefer the photos inside where Iman looks more like Iman:

Iman retired from modelling in 1989 but works together with Bethann Hardison and Naomi Campbell as the Diversity Coalition. On diversity in fashion she has said, ‘ There were more black models on the catwalks when I started in the 1970s than there are today.’
