That’s Not My Age Podcast Episode 1: Lucinda Chambers

The first That’s Not My Age podcast is an absolute corker. I can’t tell you how delighted I am to kick things off with style heroine Lucinda Chambers. Whoop. Or how nervous I felt beforehand, outside her West London home. But Lucinda was welcoming and gracious and before long I was relaxing with a cuppa and the legendary stylist on her big, comfy, never-knowingly under-cushioned sofa.
Since leaving British Vogue Lucinda, 58, has been incredibly busy launching fashion brand Colville, styling for American Vogue and is currently working on another exciting project with colleague Serena Hood, a digital fashion platform due to launch this autumn. We talked about age and style, ‘If you don’t feel comfortable it’s a style killer,’ starting a business and learning new skills. Lucinda Chambers proves that a midlife career change can be a positive thing.

One of the questions I’m asking all of my guests is, ‘What are you reading right now?’ On Lucinda’s bedside table is a copy of Ben Macintyre’s The Spy and the Traitor.

Lovely to listen to. I’m so desperate for a 100% comfy wardrobe. I have to tell you that while I adore fashion, for me at age 48 I just can’t bear to be uncomfortable anymore. I’ll get man”fashion” via accessories like sunglasses is my line of thinking. Also it really hit home that I need a new wardrobe when I realized that I don’t have practical outfits that are comfy and can be thrown on in a hurry during an emergency as in , What do I wear when my son has been rushed to the hospital and now what do I wear while visiting him during recovery?. I can shop for an event outfit/gown/suit with my eyes closed but basics? I struggle. I can never find jumpsuits to fit me sadly as 5’10 with no waist – all leg. I’m now on hunt for cotton, flowing almost yoga type pants or harem type pants for Summer and tanks. If any readers can help with online shops I’d be so greatful.
I’d love to have more episodes on how to 100% dress Faff Free. No itch no hitch. Any help appreciated. Enjoying the podcasts and looking forward to anything else you put out there Allyson.
