Quote of the week(end): Bill Nighy

London Collections Men has started and I thought I’d celebrate with a post on Britain’s most stylish man (Mr TNMA excluded). Flicking through the magazines at Glamorous Nails the other day, I came across an interview with Bill Nighy in a tatty, old copy of Condé Nast Traveller. Asked how he relaxed, the award-winning actor replied:
‘I listen to music. I occasionally rock it up, but mostly it’s the blues. And I read, and I might saunter somewhere, usually to get coffee. That’s everything I like. That and bookshops.’
Sounds like the perfect weekend, to me. One of my colleagues loaned me the Ian La Frenais film Still Crazy on DVD (Nighy plays lead singer in a cheesy 1970s rock band) which I plan to watch, too. And that’s about as much rocking it up as I’ll be doing.

Thanks for this – I have a long-standing crush on Bill Nighy – he’s wonderful in everything and makes me smile. And yes, he’s quintessentially British (in all the good ways). I have to agree with him on music, reading, sauntering, coffee and bookshops – who could ask for more? 🙂
Fabulous Bill ….I’ve seen him out and about in London town quite a few times over the years and he looks exactly like that picture…… immaculate suit, sometimes with an overcoat sometimes not….. he even looked the same in Skylight !!

Love the man – and the suit….. Savile Row, surely, or I’ll eat my hat.
What an elegant fellow: iNot only in how he dresses but thinks and communicates as well.

Young at Heart – yes, I’ve seen him around and about too. Also, saw Skylight, and a play just off Broadway with Bill Nighy and Julianne Moore both class acts.

Julianne Moore is a class act, but it’s Carey Mulligan in Skylight. She and Nighy are wonderful.
Who doesn’t love man who saunters and reads and loves bookshops? Sigh.
Katelachatte – agree, that is a wonderful pairing and I enjoyed it much more than the dull David Hare play (with Julianne Moore in NYC)!

So glad you enjoyed Skylight!Katelachatte – no problem. I did actually start talking about this in my original post but it was late & I was tired so I edited it out. Skylight was fab, they were both brilliant.
I absolutely recommend “Still Crazy”…Bill Nighy playing the middle-aged, passé glam-rock star is outstanding, and so is Timothy Spall ‘s drumer. A good movie to watch in a weekend …

Bill’s relaxing weekend sounds brilliant. I like to do that stuff too… and maybe add an Italian meal out on the sunday night. He comes across as such a lovely bloke. I wish he lived next door.
