Glenn Close for Empire magazine

— by Alyson Walsh

Glenn Close looking strong and stylish (and apparently rocking out to Janis Joplin) in the latest issue of Empire magazine has just made my week. I’m off to see The Wife this evening, the film of the book by Meg Wolitzer (haven’t read the book but I have recently finished and enjoyed The Female Persuasion). Close plays Joan Castleman the wife of author Joe Castleman (Jonathan Pryce) who has been awarded a Nobel Prize in Literature. Christian Slater is the journalist/unauthorised biographer trailing the couple and slowly uncovering Joan’s seething, ‘behind every successful author’ story.

Photographed exclusively at Somerset House by Damon Baker, Close is wearing a contrasted Louis Vuitton blazer and De Beers jewellery. Behold the power of a razor-sharp tuxedo and a woman in her prime.

Still headlining after 40-odd-years.
