How to wear a bomber jacket

Beloved of fashion editors, street style stars and Ageless Rockers, the bomber jacket was first worn by fighter pilots in World War ll. Being more of a biker than a bomber woman, I’ve never actually worn one – but a combination of one reader’s enthusiastic response to Alan Partridge (see previous post), and spotting this khaki jacquard jacket in M&S (available HERE), has triggered a rethink:

I know what you’re thinking, can a bomber jacket ever look chic? My advice, is to wear this voluminous style with a pair of tailored cropped trousers/Capri pants and mid-heeled ankle boots, or a la Lucinda Chambers, over a dress. As my mum always used to tell me, (mainly when discussing green vegetables at Sunday lunch), ‘You won’t know until you try it.’ Experiment, give the bomber jacket a spin, before it flies out of the shops…
