How to look chic on the beach
— by Alyson Walsh
We’re off on a much-needed holiday later this week and I’ve just bought this M&S bikini and Boden’s Breezy Kaftan. That’s all.
Boden kaftan available HERE, M&S bikini HERE.
What do you wear on the beach?

The cover up is dreamy! Cute suit too, though I’d have to wear my rash guard over it for sun protection. xo

A hat. Always a hat. And this year I got boyleg togs from Boden. They look nice but the longer leg shape means less elastic and sadly, some “chewing cotton.”

I bought a retro style leopard print bikini from M & Co, which looks fab but I found I spent all my time with the bottom turned down! Gone back to my string bottoms now – I want some sun on my skin and I don’t care…. 😉

I’m 56 and my body still has shape, to a degree. I can’t wear a bikini though because my skin is old!!! My once strong abs have begun getting a wee dimply.

I’m 60 and am very comfortable wearing bikinis at the beach. Just returned from France and I’ll tell you, I admire the women who are even older than I am. A great many of them went sans tops and had all sorts of bodies! Naturally, I had to follow suit and give the girls a vacation from being trussed and binded into bra and bikini tops. Total freedom!

That’s so encouraging to hear, thank you. I need to rethink my self-consciousness.
- Jennifer says:
I always wear a big hat, strong sunscreen and one piece suit. Bikini days are gone for me.

Cathe/ Katherine – I think you’re never too old for a bikini & have seen lots of women wearing them on holiday (not so many topless but hey, good for them!)
- Katherine Houston says:
Ah thanks! I’m definitely going to try and change my perspective. Besides, it’s hot out! Why shouldn’t I be comfortable?

Love both of those and well priced too. Swimsuits is the one area where GSL discourages cheeky.
Bravo AW.
