Ines de la Fressange and Uniqlo

— by Alyson Walsh

Formidable! Like Kate Moss for Topshop, I’d put my last Euro on the Ines de la Fressange and Uniqlo collection selling out. I predict a polite fashion frenzy amongst IdlF fans of a certain vintage, and am already giddy with excitement after yesterday’s preview. This spring 2014 range is available in March and really is trés chic. The 56-year-old fashion insider has an innate ability to put together easy-to-wear, elegant, everyday looks that appeal to grown-up women and has created a lovely range of wearable basics that completely encapsulates her sense of style and joie de vivre. Simple shirts and tunics, shirtdresses and flat front trousers come in navy, white, red and black, and in true Ines-style, attention has been paid to detail, ‘I believe that one can find beauty in ordinary objects and daily life. I feel less connected to fashion when it is too prohibitive, snobbish, or removed from real life.’  The cotton and French linen shirts and navy workwear-inspired jackets are my favourite pieces and will slot easily into any wardrobe. And with Uniqlo’s oh-so reasonable prices, we can all have a little piece of Parisian Chic.

It’s all about the detail:

As IdlF points out, ‘ By changing a few centimeters or millimiters, one transforms the garment. And the more one talks about the basics and pieces that are easy to wear, the greater the importance of the subtleties.’

Keep an eye on Instagram, where I’ll be posting a few more (slightly out of focus) bits and pieces.

J’adore.
