How often should we wash our clothes?

Oh Bev, that’s sounds like a horrible experience. I was quite excited on Saturday when I noticed a local second-hand shop was open. Fortunately, it was empty and the man behind the counter didn’t issue any rules and regulations/ pay any attention, so I had a casual wander round. I did touch a few items – it’s hard not to! – no idea how any shop can keep a check on that?

Aww thanks for your kind words. Obviously must start making more of an effort when I leave the sanctuary of my house! We did go for a wander around Greenwich yesterday – Flori, a lovely vintage shop selling loads of clothing and fab accessories/bits and bobberie – think you might like it? (on main street by entrance to the main market).

Hi I wash my clothes far more frequently now than before the pandemic. When I go to visit my mum I need to change and shower to be mindful of not bringing the virus to her unnecessarily. Before I would’ve washed items like jeans 2 or 3 times a year, now it’s more like once a week!

That’s a good point, Caron. When I eventually get to travel up north to see my family again, I’ll be incredibly careful about cleanliness and hygiene.

I went to the High Street this morning (the news was out that a couple of charity shops had opened their doors!). Firstly, I felt a complete ‘scruff’ – as my Lockdown attire didn’t even cut it in my local high street. Hair scraped back, sloppy jeans and no mascara! I felt most odd and conspicuous. I felt nervous and jumpy at being ‘out’ properly again. This was compounded by the fact that Scope was like Colditz. (yes, people Beckenham High Street – don’t go there). The door was locked and you had to knock on the door like it was a private drug den, THEN I had to stand in a bloody taped square where I was watched using the hand sanitiser, then I was told to remain in the square where I would be told the ‘rules’. I was issued with the standard blah about only 2 people in shop at any one time, one way system, follow the arrows, only touch if you really have to. Then I was actually allowed to leave the square of shame. It was beyond awful. I had a token scan and left. I would add that I later went into the Heart Foundation shop where they were far more friendly and I did actually buy a gorgeous Marilyn Moore vintage print silk dress. All of the other charity shops were closed still but if the Scope experience was an example of the ‘new normal’ they can keep it. Actually, Mrs Woozie Pants came home close to tears.
