Subscriber giveaway: Win your favourite piece from the Hobbs winter collection
Drum roll: I’m delighted to team up with British fashion retailer Hobbs to offer one subscriber the chance to win their favourite item from the winter collection. Whether you’re after a fabulous new coat, a lovely cashmere sweater or pair of stompy boots (I really like the Elena style), there are plenty of elevated essentials to choose from. Having collaborated with Hobbs for the launch of my first book Style Forever, and worked with the brand regularly as a fashion editor, I admire their commitment to creating timeless clothing that’ll take you from one year to the next. And of course, I’m pleased to be working with them again to bring you this wonderful offer.
To enter, simply tell us what your favourite piece is in the comment box below. Please note the maximum value is £250 and this is UK only (we are currently looking into giveaways for other regions). The deadline is 23:59 on Friday 20 November 2020, and we’ll contact the lucky winner shortly after.

Terms and conditions:
1. The competition is open to UK-based That’s Not My Age Patreon subscribers aged 18 years or over.
2. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
3. Closing date for entry will be 23:59 Friday 20th November 2020. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
4. The prize is one piece from the Hobbs collection up to the value of £250 including standard delivery to one UK based address.
5. The prize is as stated, and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
6. The winner will be notified within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
7. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

One of my 2020 promises to myself has been to buy only sustainably produced fashion and to buy less of it. These are just two of the reasons I’m all about the Marciella dress in green. Here are some others: The 3/4 sleeve is forgiving for those of us who’ve reached the other side of menopause, the collar is flattering, the tunic shape and viscose fabric ensure that the dress will float over my mid-life lumps and the on the knee length is perfect for my 5ft 4″ frame. I’m no longer buying clothes designed for only one kind of activity and I can see this dress being perfect for day to evening wear for those times to come (and oh aren’t we longing for them) when evenings can finally mean drinks with friends again.

It is all about practicality for me this year, so if Hobbs were to gift me one thing from their lovely winter collection, I ask for those Elena Boots. They’d be perfect with the Spry Workwear trousers and Jumpsuit I finally bought myself this autumn (thank you Alyson!).I could stomp about looking productive – even on the days I don’t feel it.

……….. my choice would definitely be the Ella mac in gold to brighten and cheer these Lockdown and dark days. Spread a little happy and joy around the high street with a positive and life-affirming colour. Wear it with winter whites, navy’s and bretons, smart black trousers and just about everything else in between. I can even see it being worn to casually dress down a full length skirt (full length navy tulle with gold sparkly bits in it) for a posh evening out – with gold tasselly, dangly earrings. My imagination is in overdrive here! Oooh, I how I would love that mac!

I’m choosing the LORI WOOL CHECK CAPE in navy and ivory, 100% wool so sustainable fabric, can be worn working or lounging from home or over any coat when out for my daily walk!

The black velvet Marciella dress gets my vote. Great to see Hobbs are moving to so quickly to model what you have been advocating for a long time now Alyson. It’s a struggle to survive right now, I admire any company who can do that whilst turning their agenda to one that is more environmental.

Apologies if I sound like a morning Minnie in the face of a lovely offer but I struggled a bit to find garments that fitted my current lifestyle and sustainability requirements. My lifestyle isn’t Hobbs’s problem but the statement on their sustain range is pretty vague and could be much clearer.
The Mandy wool coat in cobalt was my favourite item of what’s on offer this season though I’m unclear about whether the polyester lining is recycled or not.Angela says:
I’ve always gotten on well with Hobbs’s shoes. I have a red strappy heeled style that’s more than 10 years old I still occasionally drag out, and a pair of brogues which lasted three hardwearing years before they fell apart. So I’m thinking of their ankle boots this year. I like the Beatrix suede ankle boots, Chelsea boots are always going to look good with knee-length skirts and opaque tights, and these have a nice chunky aspect.

The Sofia trench coat. In part because I cannot justify the cost of a Burberry trench, though I have been looking at them wistfully for years on their website. Plus I didn’t like it when they burned a tonne of their clothing to preserve the “brand”. Not cool.
This is a great classic piece and will fill me with hope that one day I will get on a train again, go into London again, have meetings, and re-find the confidence that has really ebbed away from me, and I am sure many of us, throughout this year.
Though I am not going back to heels or underwired bras, so there has been a sartorial silver lining!I agree, Burberry’s behaviour in burning clothing was inexcusable and downright disgusting! (Burbs I hope you read this!). My Burberry trench was from a charity shop – my perfect size (14 long) and a quick trip to the dry cleaners and it looks gorgeous. Total cost £30 plus £10 for the dry cleaners.

Wow, I’m spoilt for choice. However, the Mara trainer is the winner for me. Crisp styling, roomy toe box, and the all-important flashes of bling. Perfect!
What a lovely competition. My choice would be the Elena Ankle boot – I love the rounded toe which suits the shape of my feet as I often have trouble with sizes being a 4.5. I’ve always found Hobbs shoes/boots a really good fit for me. I am still wearing a pair of Hobbs black suede ankle boots that I must have had for nearly 20 years. Quality lasts. Thank you ❤️

Having watched the terrible impact of lockdown on children’s education, I’ve just returned to teaching after a 16-year break. It gets a bit draughty with all the windows open in the classroom, so I’m looking for cheery extra layers and the Chloe cardigan looks like it fits the bill!

My pick would be the Milly Wool Blend Coat – I am lucky enough to have found a new job in Covid & do far my commute is from bedroom to my dining room table & back (no coat required) – once we can start to emerge into the outside world I would love to cut a swagger in this coat (and maybe hide my nerves under its stylish exterior)

It has to be the Eliana midi dress! At last, a grown-up midi – no flounces or tiers but a fab design (love the red flash of colour) which lifts it from the ordinary, long sleeves and figure skimming cut. A real seasonal all-rounder which I can wear with trainers, boots, my black leather jacket or boxy sweater. Hobbs know what women want!

The Chloe denim shirt is the piece that would help upgrade my casual wardrobe from scruffy to casually chic. It would just provide that air of easy throw on style. It’s not something I can justify at the moment but it would be an elegant addition that would provide years of style.

Such a generous gesture from you and Hobbs. I love Hobbs and have bought a few items over the years since they specialise in that “classic with a twist“ style. I would love the Stella animal hair ankle boots. They would be a special treat and a more glamorous shoe choice for me than my usual more practical styles, which I couldn’t normally justify. Animal print also goes with everything! They could jazz up loads of outfits, especially over the coming festive season. I am a size 37.FREDA FAUX FUR COLLAR COAT!!

The Elena boots for me, please. They are stompy but in such a ladylike way. I remember years ago commenting that I didn’t have a “style” and a friend telling me I was very ‘Guardian lady.’ I didn’t get it at all at the time, but now I appreciate it -and these boots are it. Love them
I ‘m 77 and 5’3”. My favourite Hobbs piece is the Angelica Military Jacket. It has a joie de vivre that lifts it out of the Granny league and can be worn with both jeans and more formal trousers making it a most useful addition to my wardrobe.

I’m always searching for the perfect dress and the Miley Animal Midi Dress fits the bill! A dress which can be dressed up when we’re allowed to go to pubs and restaurants, which can be worn with trainers or chunky flat boots and a jumper for supermarket visits and walks, to one which looks good in zoom calls! It’s the ideal dress to lift the spirits in difficult times, whats not to love?
