The Margaret Howell Calendar
There’s only one fashion calendar that means anything to me, and that’s the Margaret Howell calendar. This year’s is called Sea & Coastline and contains a selection of work by British printmakers including Charles Bartlett and David Gentleman. Call me old-fashioned, but I like to greet the new year armed with the right stationery. A proper calendar and a proper diary. Electronic versions might be quick and easy but where’s the beauty? To me the transition from one year to the next, involves an afternoon spent scribbling down friend’s birthdays and wistfully reflecting on the past twelve months, mulled wine in hand. And, so what if the Margaret Howell calendar remains on the January page for the entire year, I can sleep at night safe in the knowledge that I’ll still know what day it is, even if my computer has a seizure.
Do you still buy a calendar or a paper diary?

I do both filofax and iphone calendar – feel I need all options to be covered xx
Lovely artwork. I do run a family calender, and am also thinking of going back to the good old filofax, electronics crash, get stolen, run out of charge…
I'm just finishing a lovely, red, 18-month Moleskine diary which I really enjoyed using. I made the decision to go back to my filofax and bought next year's insert for it in October. I hope I've made the right choice. I'm still a writing and paper girl despite the occasional flirtation with the calendar on my ipad.

Yes, love paper diaries and calendars. It's a good thing, as I'd never trust myself to figure out the electronic kind. Plus I like to look back and see where I've been and with who!
I don't trust the electronic, plus I trust even less sharing my schedule with my workplace — too much encroachment of that behemoth into my personal time as it is. I use a small dayplanner (by Quo Vadis) that fits neatly in my bag — it has an Hermes-orange cover that both makes me happy and is easy to spot in the depths of the purse.
Nothing can replace my leather bound diary…..it's like leather gloves….a "must have".

It's not that I shun beauty in my life, but that I crave simplicity above all. The digital options help me keep clutter under control.
I've several wall and desk calendars scattered throughout my home and office. I've been carrying a Filofax of some type for more than a decade now… I picked up a lovely pink ostrich mini a few months ago and love looking through it so much more than I would do flipping from screen to screen on a smart phone or Blackberry!

Paper for me, even though I do love computers for all their wondrous talents. As you said "where's the beauty?". I love choosing my annual date keeper, and I always look for a beautiful photo or drawing, like this one.
