Siouxsie shows off her silver hair & we love it

While the media obsesses over Beyonce’s tour-drobe, I’m digging Siouxsie’s onstage look. After 10 years away from the limelight, the punk singer is playing live again. The gothic black hair now beautifully streaked grey. The slinky Pam Hogg jumpsuit paired with statement sneakers. Yeah, this is what 66 looks like.
To many women who grew up in the seventies, Siouxsie is an icon. Together with Patti Smith and Debbie Harry, she owned a strong, singular look and inspired us to do our own thing. These trailblazing front-women were renowned for wearing what they wanted, having control over their image and not giving a damn. I love that Siouxsie’s idiosyncratic dress sense has remained the same for nearly 50 years. The fact that she’s embracing her age, in her own way.

I was there with my daughter Daisy Kate Siouxsie and she was absolutely stunning, Wolverhampton was good this was whey better, can’t wait for London now, I’ve followed her since I was 13 am now 60, so glad she came out to perform live again hopefully she’ll do it again in the near future as the turn out for the ice queen is always amazing, Gazza the 60 Yr old goth

She’s so impressive. I saw her in 1980/1 (I think) fronting an excellent Banshees line up and she totally bossed it. I still think that was one of my favourite gigs, ever, and I wasn’t even that big a fan. Seeing her interviewed a few years ago for some BBC4 punk retrospective, it was obvious that she’d lost none of her style and charisma, and these photos show she’s still bossing it – she looks great!

Following Alyson’s lead I grew out my hair dye five years ago. I’ve never regretted the decision to have natural hair. This was pre-pandemic so hairdressers would have been closed. Now when I go for a trim my hairdresser compliments me on look and condition of my hair. It’s salt and pepper with whiter streaks nearer the face. Improvement in texture and manageability are marked. Money saved, better scalp condition. Keeping it looking sharp with professional cuts as required and a bit more makeup on cheeks, eyes and lips to balance out the greyness. Win win situation.
I like to see the older rockers and musicians still up there on stage enjoying playing music and singing.

I saw her earlier this month at the Mouth of Tyne festival and she was tremendous. She looked great in that floaty pale blue jumpsuit in the second photograph.

I enjoyed learning about Siouxsie and her music. I didn’t see the need to add “Yeah, this is what 66 looks like”. She is celebrating who she is, regardless of her age.
Hi Cindy, Thanks as always for commenting. That’s a take on the famous Gloria Steinem quote – and I wanted to use it to emphasise that we can look however we want to at 66, or any age for that matter. Most written features/ profiles mention a person’s age and I do it deliberately to show that older women have agency in our ageist society. We should be proud of our age, knowledge and experience. Why hide it away?

I’ve worn Uniqlo bra tops for over 5 years and they are an essential part of my wardrobe. My one complaint m is that the necklines are low. The crop top style bra tops admittedly do have high necklines but tend to ride up when I wear them and I don’t want to be showing a bare midriff.
I live in hope that Uniqlo will add a bra top with a higher neckline to the range. Then I can wear the bra top on its own, not under a higher neck T shirt. I’m ok with showing the tops of my arms on a hot day, but don’t want to show too much cleavage.
At 5 ft 4 ins I am on the short side, so necklines are often lower than they should be. Although the Uniqlo bra tops have adjustable straps this is not enough for me.
The Mame Kurogouchi collaboration range does have higher neck bra tops from time to time, but these styles are not constantly in stock and the size range is limited.
