Revitalising winter skin
As a year-round cyclist, I’m on my bike in all weathers (only taking the train to the office if there’s a torrential downpour or the roads are icy). While I’m often wrapped up in hi-viz layers and two of everything, my face is open to the elements. Even though the weather is unseasonably warm right now, winter can be harsh on the skin. How serendipitous then, when an email from Nuxe popped into my inbox asking if I’d like to test-drive the Nuxe Nuxuriance Gold range of replenishing beauty products designed to brighten (with ‘golden micro-reflectors’) and nourish the skin (94% natural ingredients and hyaluronic acid). Ooh, go on then…
Now widely available, Nuxe is one of those cult brands I used to buy on the obligatory trip to the French pharmacy, when in Paris. But that’s nothing, one of my French friend boasts about being one of the beauty brand’s early customers at the mini laboratory near the Gare du Nord back in the 1990s….
Anyhow. After 28 days, my standout products are the Nuxuriance Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Serum and the Nutri-Fortifying Oil Cream, my weather-beaten face is lapping them up. The day cream is luxurious and rich with a distinctive scent which some of my friends love (that’ll be the natural bougainvillea extract, then). Nuxe very generously sent samples to some of my friends – and one commented on the ‘sweet, floral aroma’ and how it ‘resolved into one reminiscent of a perfume my mum wore when I was a child’.
Most were impressed by the percentage of natural ingredients in the products and the fact that Nuxe uses glass jars (for the creams), rather than plastic, with items ‘housed in only a cardboard box’. My French friend Linda sent me a ‘1000 mercis’ but it was another friend Lucy who was most effusive, ‘My skin has changed since turning 50 and these products have given me back a skin I recognize. I am delighted! Having never had problem skin in my teens, now as an adult I have menopausal skin and every product I’ve tried over the last 18-months has irritated it in some way. I’m a convert – Nuxe has a new customer!’

I tried Nuxe products for the first time when we were in Italy last fall. I stopped into a pharmacy to ask the cosmetician to recommend something for my very, very dry and painfully chapped lips. I ended up buying their Honey Lip Balm and it was a miracle worker. Withing a couple of days my lips felt wonderful. Now both my husband and I use it , and have been all winter. Don’t know what I’ll do when I run out? Back to Italy? Or France? Ha.
