What to wear when you work from home

— by Alyson Walsh

This is the ultimate working from home outfit. Relaxed, easy and just smart enough to feel focused. I may not be as athletic as I used to be but sporty side-stripe trousers and posh joggers now form an integral part of my 9-5 wardrobe. Spending the majority of my time working from home, or from an office I share with friends, I want to feel comfortable and at ease, but still professional and pulled-together. This requires pared-down, sporty staples, styled with one smarter element for occasions when I need to leave the building, or go to an all-important meeting. Chic not sloppy is the goal. Clothes that are working not shirking. Think luxury track pants with a silky blouse and blazer. The pull on-and-go top with harem pants or posh joggers. A cashmere hoodie underneath a trouser suit. Or for evening events slip a bomber jacket over a cocktail dress. This high-low, mix and match, way of dressing will make your working-from-home-wear feel more modern, and look less try-hard. Relaxed and formal has become the new normal.

Opt for quality fabrics with status that can last the day and remain relaxed well into the evening. The luxury track pants I’m wearing are from Me + Em and I’ve whooped them up with a silk animal print blouse from Lily and Lionel. The cow print trainers are from Air & Grace. All items were borrowed for the photo shoot and returned.
